EAA enforcement is live — penalty decisions landing across the EU in 2026

See your website's accessibility risk before a regulator — or a law firm — does.

AccessRadar scans your site against WCAG 2.1 AA and EN 301 549 (the European Accessibility Act standard), explains every issue in plain language with exact fixes, and monitors continuously so new risks never pile up silently.

No signup. ~20 seconds. We scan up to 3 public pages. No code is installed and nothing changes on your site.

How it works

From unknown risk to a managed accessibility programme in three steps.

Scan

We crawl your key pages and test them against WCAG 2.1 AA success criteria referenced by EN 301 549 — images, forms, contrast, keyboard access, ARIA, structure, embedded media and more.

Fix with confidence

Every finding comes with the affected element, why it matters legally and for real users, and copy-paste-level fix guidance your developer (or agency) can act on immediately.

Monitor forever

Sites change weekly; risk creeps back silently. AccessRadar rescans on schedule, tracks your score, and alerts you the moment new critical issues appear.

What we check — and what we honestly can't

Automated scanning detects roughly 30–40% of WCAG success criteria — the most common, most-cited issues. Anyone who tells you a tool alone makes you compliant is selling you risk. (The FTC fined one overlay vendor $1M for exactly that claim.)

✓ Automated checks

Missing alt text · unlabeled form fields · empty buttons/links · color contrast · page language · headings & landmarks · keyboard traps (tabindex) · ARIA misuse · iframe titles · zoom blocking · autoplaying media · data-table structure · ambiguous links · timed refresh · and more.

⚠ Flagged for human review

Video captions · audio transcripts · PDF/document accessibility (also in EAA scope!) · click handlers that may not be keyboard-reachable. We surface them with guidance instead of pretending software can judge them.

✗ What no tool can do

Certify compliance. Judge meaningfulness of alt text, logical reading order in all cases, or cognitive load. That requires humans — we tell you where to focus their time so audits cost less.

The EAA isn't a future problem. It's a 2026 problem.

The European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882) has applied to e-commerce, banking, transport, e-books and key digital services since 28 June 2025 — including non-EU companies selling into the EU. Enforcement has begun:

EAA enforcement activity by country
CountryActivityExposure
FranceFirst EAA lawsuits filed against major retailers (Nov 2025); formal notices served by disability organizationsUp to €250k + €50k/day
GermanyActive warning-letter (Abmahnung) practice since launchUp to €100,000
NorwayDaily coercive fines already running against a non-compliant serviceNOK 50,000/day
SwedenSystematic e-commerce inspections by PTSPenalty rulings expected 2026
SpainLaw 11/2023 in forceUp to €1,000,000

Microenterprises (<10 staff and ≤€2M turnover) providing services are exempt. Selling into the EU from abroad does not exempt you. This is general information, not legal advice.

Honest questions, honest answers

Will AccessRadar make my website compliant?

No — and no tool can, despite what overlay vendors claim (one was fined $1M by the FTC for saying so). AccessRadar finds the detectable risks, explains exactly how to fix them, and monitors so they stay fixed. Compliance is an ongoing programme; we're the radar, your team or agency is the pilot.

Is this one of those accessibility overlay widgets?

No. We never inject code into your site. Overlays don't fix underlying code — 22.6% of US web-accessibility lawsuits in H1 2025 targeted sites that already used one. We scan, report, and monitor. Your developers fix the source.

Does the EAA apply to my company?

If you sell e-commerce or covered digital services to EU consumers — even from outside the EU — it likely applies. Service-provider microenterprises (under 10 staff and ≤€2M turnover) are exempt. When in doubt, ask a lawyer; our reports give them exactly what they need to assess scope faster.

How much of WCAG can an automated scan cover?

Industry consensus is roughly 30–40% of success criteria. That subset contains the most common and most-litigated issues (missing alt text, unlabeled forms, contrast). We flag the rest for human review instead of pretending it doesn't exist.
